Gran Baita is located in Gressoney Saint Jean at 1385 mt  a.s.l.,  in the quiet and panoramic hamlet called “Gressmatten” which offers a unique and privileged view of the Monte Rosa glacier which also some rooms enjoy. The hotel is not far from the Savoy Castle, the summer residence of Queen Margherita, the starting point for the pleasant walk of the Queen.

From the Gran Baita hotel, in a few minutes on foot, either through the path just described or by the municipal road, it is possible to reach the picturesque Gover lake, in whose waters the majestic Monte Rosa glacier is reflected. Not far, the completely walkable historic center , with its elegant example of Walser architecture, the local craft shops, sports, clothing, food and wine shops, as well as,  the suggestive Church of San Giovanni which houses a recently restored 13th century wooden altarpiece.

For nature and outdoor lovers, the resort offers hundreds of walks and excursions many of which are available in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. Uncontaminated nature, ancient Walser pastures, magnificent expanses of meadows, waterways and breathtaking views are just waiting to amaze even the most demanding hikers.

For skiers and snow lovers, a few tens of meters from the hotel is one of the entrances to the great Nordic skiing ring and snowshoe trails.

For alpine skiing enthusiasts, only 1 km separates the Hotel Gran Baita from the local ski resort “Weissmatten“, a small jewel for young and old, and the Baby Snow-Park, directly accessible from the regional road (no ski lifts must be used to access it) and with a sunny exposure.

To complete the offer, Gressoney Saint Jean has a Sports Hall for practicing various indoor activities, an half olympic-size swimming pool with solarium and relaxation area, a cinema.

To reach the beating heart of the large Monterosa Ski area,  which includes three valleys and over 200 km. of slopes, it is instead necessary to reach Gressoney la Trinité (4 km distance) by alternatively using the bus and shuttle service (rides  every 15 minutes) or by using a private car (travel time: 12 minutes). Wellness and relax: Gran Baita has a small fitness area with sauna and Steam room which can be accessed between 5pm and 7pm by reporting its use at reception with an additional cost of euro 10 per person.

The hotel hosts Hatha Yoga, Pilates and pancafit lessons by reservation conducted by qualified teachers at discounted rates for hotel guests.

ROOMS

Rooms  are cosy and simply furnished with the presence of wood that gives warmth to the environment. Some of them have a unique view of the Monte Rosa massif, one of the best that can be enjoyed from the valley, except for Savoia Castle  and the viewpoints of Weissmatten.

We believe that the guarantee of hygiene must be able to combine with environmental sustainability and that is why the cleaning system made with Menikini machines with 180 ° dry steam in synergy with a virucide, is the solution chosen to guarantee the sanitization of surfaces and of the fabrics of our rooms as well as of the common areas.
